Southern Family Markets/Bruno's/Food World (SFM) held its first Charity Golf Classic on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Bent Brook Golf Course. Many of SFM's vendors, partners and employees teed off to raise big dollars for local charities. During the kick-off dinner, checks for $25,000 each were presented to the Salvation Army, Red Cross, United Way and United Way Community Food Bank.

Bruno's supermarkets partner with the Alabama Grocers Association in March and September for their annual Buy Alabama's Best promotion. The campaign promotes products made in Alabama, with proceeds from the sales of participating manufacturers' products benefitting the Children's Hospital of Alabama. Stores also accept donations that go straight to the charity. stores are located.
Any nonprofit can participate! By collecting UPCs from all Best Yet products, any individual or group can become a sponsor and earn money for their favorite nonprofit organization. Each saved UPC earns two cents. Once you've collected 500 UPCs, you can send them in for redemption. There's no limit to how many product UPCs you can collect. Bruno's supermarkets partner with the Glenwood Autism Society annually for the sale of the Glenwood Pecans, a fundraiser for the society. Bruno's supplies all of the marketing and promotional materials for this line of products.
Throughout November and December, all stores participate in a food drive to stock local food banks. Select groceries are pre-bagged for customers' convenience so that they may be purchased and placed into the collection bins. Any and all food donations are welcome. Muscular Dystrophy Association Aisles of Smiles All stores sale mobiles to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
All schools, day care through high school, are eligible to participate in the Bruno's School Cash Rewards program. In August through May, stores print all sales receipts on green paper. Schools are encouraged to collect these "green receipts" and redeem them for 1% of the pre-tax total. Each school can earn up to $2500 each school year.
